White Oak Elementary in Apex-West Cary opened yesterday August 29th 2016. It is part of the 155,000 student Wake County School System, the 15th largest in the country. The address of White Oak is Apex but the attendance area includes West Cary neighborhoods. It’s located north of HWY 64 and West of 540. Take a tour of the school with principal Robin Swain and staff.
White Oak Elementary-Expensive New Homes
Most of the White Oak Elementary area was total country just a few years ago. It still is with big huge areas of cleared tracks of land. Except for Copperleaf, it is mostly production (tract) builders. The houses are large and there is a little more land than some of the new neighborhoods and prices reflect that.
In the 2016-2017 attendance year these are some of the neighborhoods that will be in the White Oak attendance area. Copperleaf (750+), Lake Castleberry (new 600’s),Crestmont (new upper 400’s+),Green Level Crossing (mid 600’s+),Southerlyn (600’s), Toscana (mid 500-700’s),The Enclave (new Toll brothers from mid 500’s), Regency (new Toll Brothers from mid 400’s) and White Oak Creek (mid 600’s-700’s+).
White Oak is a traditional calendar school. In Wake County the base middle and elementary schools can be either year around or traditional calendar with the option to choose if you decide to change early in the year. The school is different looking because it is 3 stories. It has the capacity for 900 students so I expect the country atmosphere will soon be gone. If you are thinking about buying a home in Cary or Apex be sure to use the school look up tool to make sure you know the base of the school. School assignments change often especially with all of the new schools being built in Wake County.
